Episode thirty-two: podcasting from Houston, TX at Vineyard Music studio.
Casey and Anabeth sit down with the National Worship Task Force for the Association of Vineyard Churches in the US to discuss the impact of the music industry on contemporary worship within our churches. This is part one of a two-part discussion. In a roundtable conversation, these leaders wrestle with the “pros” and “cons” of the development of the worship leader as a career as well as the influence of the music industry.
This is my buddy Joe Randeen and my father-in-law Bill Dragoo rocking out on double-drums before the Thursday night session of the EQUP youth conference at Vineyard Anaheim. I get to play with these cats tomorrow night and think I’ll need to bring two guitar amps to keep up with the drum-onslaught!
Sheri and band will also be leading worship at the North Jersey Vineyard on Sunday morning, October 19th.
Please pray for Sheri and our little band as we work to get all the gear lined up and travel in for this event. We are very excited not only to get a chance to perform with these great bands, but a chance to be a part of an incredible event that is all about showing God’s love and community.

On October 18, STAR 99.1 radio will bring together a line-up of contemporary Christian recording artists to the IZOD Center at the Meadowlands to raise support for Hurricane Ike disaster relief. “Rebuild: A Concert for Hurricane Ike Relief” will feature the Nashville-based band Salvador as well as New Jersey-based bands Runaway and Article A.
“This night is all about demonstrating the power of community to help our neighbors in need,” says STAR 99.1 Station Manager Scott Taylor.
A portion of every ticket sold will be sent to support disaster recovery. In addition, concert attendees will be encouraged to bring retail gift cards that will be distributed to meet the need in the Galveston – Houston region devastated by Hurricane Ike earlier this month.
Whenever I watched The Wonder Years it reminded me that I could never really tell if Joe Cocker was singing the right lyrics, or just making things up. But Terry sent me this video, and it reveals the important message from Mr. Cocker. Finally, his true words revealed.
My father-in-law is a rock-drumming legend. You might know him as Billy-boom-boom, or as the drummer for the legendary Christian-rock band, “One Truth”. If you want to share in the fandom of Bill, David Carr has created a Facebook fan club titled, “Bill Dragoo Is A Rock Star”.
Melisa and I had an opportunity to play guitar and keys with our friends from Anaheim last night, and it was a wonderful time. We did a newer song by Andy Park called "You Are God" off of his Unshakable project. Great song, and one that congregations can quickly jump into. Check it out sometime.
Anyway, I usually take a couple of axes with me whenever I go play out in case a bust a string or need to work around another guitarist who might be using the same sound, and my "go to" axes are my 1997 American Tele and my 2002 Les Paul Studio. But I was in our equipment closet, and I grabbed my trusty old Tex-Mex Strat for some reason. I just wanted something different, and I gave the Les Paul a night off.
Music news barely gets better than this. Two of my favorite bands from the 90’s are back and are going to be releasing new albums.
Reunited pop/rock outfit Sixpence None The Richer has put the finishing touches on its first Christmas album. “The Dawn of Grace” is due Oct. 14; album opener “Angels We Have Heard on High” can be streamed exclusively from Billboard.com. - JONATHAN COHEN, BILLBOARD
Man do I wish I could go to Cornerstone Festival this year to catch their set. I saw their first ever Cornerstone gig when they had just released fatherless and the widow.
